Accommodation

Gangehi Island Resort reopened in 2008 after a total renovation, offers rooms of a very high standard. The resort consists of 40 bungalows of which 8, called 'Over Water DeLuxe', are on stilts and are very spacious with exquisite furnishings and an architecture inspired by local Maldives style.

A further 8 'Over water' rooms are also on stilts and enjoy a privileged position, whilst 20 standard bungalows afford views of the sea and have direct access to the beach.

Finally there are 3 garden villas that have a garden view and 1 family room with two bedrooms and bathrooms.

Garden Villa

These bungalows, immersed in luxuriant vegetation, are also elegantly furnished. They feature a double bed (two beds upon request), and come with air conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge/bar, safe, direct-line telephone, and private bathroom with shower. There are towels in all the bedrooms and the bungalows all have large verandas surrounded by vegetation.

The arrangement of the bungalows guarantees an unusual degree of privacy and tranquility which is highly appreciated by guests.

Family Room

This bungalow is designed to accommodate families and consists of two bedrooms an bathrooms and a single living room.

The bedrooms are elegantly furnished and feature a double bed (2 beds upon request), and come with air conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge/bar, safe, direct line telephone, and private bathroom with shower. There are beach towels in all the bedrooms and they have large verandas.

Beach Bungalow

Facing the sea and with a private beach, these are elegantly furnished. They feature a double bed (2 beds if requested), and come with air conditioning, ceiling fan, fridge/bar, safe, direct-line telephone, private bathroom with shower and beach towels. The bungalows have large verandas.

Over Water

The new rooms are particularly spacious and welcoming and feature teak floors and ample cupboards and chest of drawers. The bedroom, with desk and armchair, has a large bathroom with double wash basins and a shower area.

It also has a comfortable veranda equipped with a sunbathing lounger and direct access to the beach on which are two sunbathing loungers.

Over Water De Luxe

Constructed exclusively of woods valued in the building traditional noble Maldivian homes, these rooms, all with views of the sunrise or sunset, are furnished with furniture and period pieces from Southern India.

The accommodation consists of a spacious bedroom with ample cupboards and chest of drawers, that includes a day area with desk and armchairs, as well as a large semi-open bathroom with two basins, 'rain' shower, WC and separate make-up area.

A comfortable veranda with loungers for sunbathing as well as a covered day bed for those who prefer the shade, completes the ensemble.

Restaurants & Bars

Bar

Overlooking the sea, the panoramic bar adjoins the restaurant and is an excellent place to meet for a sunset cocktail or to spend a relaxing evening with live music.

Veli restaurant

The main restaurant has been completely renovated in authentic Maldivian style and offers a buffet style service. There is a wide culinary choice with Italian and International dishes on offer as well as specialities from the Orient. There is also a well stocked wine list.

With the arrival last summer of a new chef the menu has expanded considerably and a great deal of care is taken both in food preparation and dietary considerations. Home made ice creams are always on the menu and are reknown throughout the Maldives!

Meals at this restaurant are included in the board and lodging package.

Thari Restaurant

This very refined bar-restaurant is magically suspended over the lagoon, at the end of the pier. It offers A La Carte dining and has an open plan kitchen so that you can watch the chef prepare your meal. Guests can sip delectable cocktails while admiring the sunset and can enjoy fine international dining of a high standard against a spectacular panoramic backdrop.

Diving School

With its strategic location in the North Ari Atoll, the Gangehi resort is able to offer its guests a choice of innumerable dive sites suitable either for beginners or for very advanced divers with qualified PADI instructors.
