Young Island
Young Island
Young Island Resort, the most northerly of the Grenadine chain of islands, is a privately owned, luxury 35 acre tropical island.
Legend has it that 150 years ago the Caribs -- the original inhabitants of the region -- traded the island for a stallion owned by the then British Administrator, Governor Young, hence the origin of the island's name.
The informality of Young Island is ideally suited to families and they welcome children of all ages.
Once you step onto the island you can take your shoes off and leave your cares behind. Take a nap or read a book in a hammock, listen to the water lapping the shore as you dine under thatched huts
The ultimate "Robinson Crusoe" hideaway, an 'islanders' island", are appropriate descriptions of Young Island. One of the first whole island resorts, Young Island is located just 200 yards off the south coast of St. Vincent in the southern Caribbean. This tiny island is fully self-contained with wonderful, private villa resort accommodations, exquisite meals, fantastic service, water sports, views that are hard to match, and the most elegant yet relaxed and casual atmosphere found anywhere.
The most common routes from outside the Caribbean come through Barbados.
Once on St. Vincent, a 10 minute taxi ride takes you to the ferry dock for a five minute "voyage" across the clearest water you've ever seen.
